Историята на името Баадер в астрономията датира от 1852 г., когато Михаел Баадер открива Оптична производствена фирма в Мюнхен, след като работи от 1838 г. в компанията за оптично стъкло на "Martin Woerle". Там придобива дълбоки познания за производството на оптично стъкло и тества ахроматични лещи под прякото ръководство на "Josef von Fraunhofer", един от основателите на съвременната оптика и изобретател на германския тип монтировка. Baader Planetarium се намира близо до Мюнхен, Германия. Компанията е основана през 1966 г. в Мюнхен и оттогава е произвела повече от 15 000 планетариума, както и 500 астрономически купола с всякакви размери.
